The popular religion is Roman Catholicism. According to the 2020 Mexican government census (the most recent), approximately 78% of the population identifies as Roman Catholic (compared with 83% in 2010). Sadly, Mexico is plagued with corruption. Many people have a fatalistic view of life and a victim mentality.

On the other hand, Mexicans are usually very friendly and hospitable. Family is important, and generally they will personally take care of their parents or even grandparents until they pass away.
